This is one of the biggest events of the Cub Scout year, where scouts earn their rank badges during special ceremonies, marking the completion of their specific rank advancement requirements.

It is also the time when our 5th grade Webelos Scouts "Crossover" to Boy Scouts!

Leaders please show up at 3pm to help set up.

Welcome to the Adventure of Cub Scouting. Where Character Counts and the Adventure Begins! For Boys in Grades 1-5

Tiger Cubs are boys from the first grade. The primary goal is to get them aquainted with scouting, learn the basics and to have fun!! The requirements are relativley easy and are centered on family, health, community, and faith. The boy also get to make a lot of crafts, play games and participate in team building activities.

The first step is to get them on the Bobcat trail. They need to know the Cub Scout Motto, handshake and salute. They must also know the Cub Scout Promise and the Law Of The Pack. Once these goals are acheived, they can then start to work toward their Tiger Cub rank.

Tiger Cubs need as adult partner at each den and pack meeting. There is alot going on and one den leader just isn't enough!! Please feel free to dive in and have fun! before you know ityou may want to plan a meeting. The boy's excitement is contagious!!

If a Cub Scout has completed the first grade (or is 8 years old) and has earned the Bobcat Badge, he may start earning the Wolf rank. He receives a Wolf Scout handbook, Wolf neckerchief, and Wolf neckerchief slide when beginning the Wolf portion of the boy scout trail. He will also need a blue Cub Scout Uniform. This part of the boy scout trail is intended to take one school year, preparing the scout to begin earning his Bear rank after he completes second grade. Your Wolf den will have opportunities to participate in Pack meetings.

Much of the advancement for the Wolf rank is done by the scout with his family outside of the den. The parent signs off in the scout's handbook and the Den Leader records the advancements from the handbook to tracking chart or software program. As the Tiger program was completely family oriented, so the Wolf program relies heavily on family involvement. You will see this gradually change with the scout doing more with his den and more individual direction as he reaches Webelos and Boy Scouts.

If a Cub Scout has completed the second grade (or is 9 years old) and has earned the Bobcat Badge, he may start earning the Bear rank. He receives a Bear Scout handbook and Bear neckerchief, but continues to use the Wolf neckerchief slide when beginning the Bear portion of the boy scout trail. He will continue to use the blue Cub Scout Uniform. This part of the boy scout trail is intended to take one school year, preparing the scout to begin earning his Webelos rank after he completes third grade.

Your Bear den will have opportunities to participate in Pack meetings. They can do skits, which are always fun and hit withe the boys. They can also help set up a game to be played at the pack meeting. These activities help build confidence and leadership.

In the Bear scouting program, there are 4 general achievement groups: God, Country, Family, and Self and a total of about 120 individual achievement tasks. In each group, a certain number of achievements are required to earn the Bear rank badge. After earning the Bear badge, the scout may earn arrow points by completing additional achievement tasks.

Webelos is a 20 month program for 4th and 5th grade boys to prepare to join a Boy Scout troop while learning outdoors skills and participating in 20 different activity badges. A well-run group of Webelos is a gradual change from being an 'adult-run' den to being a 'boy-run' patrol ready to fit right into an adventurous scouting troop. This migration requires the parents and den leaders to give the scouts more and more control, decision-making power, and responsibility as they progress in skills, abilities, and maturity. A good program also provides the scouts with many opportunities to grow in the Webelos Virtues.

These pictures are from the Pack's April pack meeting "Take Flight" . The cub Scouts got to build airplains for the airplain derby. The Cub Scouts got to shoot off bottles. WOW!! The bollets went high. The Cub Scouts also got to learn about about Cooperation. They had to try to stack coffee cans. The Tigers kick about trying to build a big pyramid and getting to knock it down.

JUNE 13TH- 1:00pm Camp clean up and picnic at the camp ground behind the church. We will have the bounce house again this year and maybe even

“soak the scout”

Please bring your favorite dish to pass. Also bring a rake and anything else that would be helpful for clean up. Scouts are welcome to bring their bikes and helmet. No electronics.

JUNE 27th- Scout day camp. Please meet in the church parking lot @ 8:30am. We will caravan to camp Greilick together. Have your scout wear their bathing suit under their clothes. Bring a towel, sunscreen and spending money for the camp store. Lunch is included this year. Remember NO open toe shoes.

JULY 12TH- We will be spending the day at Fun Country with the rest of the pack. Meet under the fun country patio located by the splash zone @ 1:00pm. Parents or Adult partners please stay on fun country property. Please no drop offs. The pack will be paying for the scouts.

JULY 25th-JULY 28th- Webelos camp. Meet at Camp Greilick @ 1:45. Check in begins @ 2:00pm. See you thereJ It’s a good idea to pack a small cooler of drinks and comfort foods for your scout to have access to in the camp site. Three meals a day will be served in the lodge. No electronics.

AUGUST 22nd- Overnight camp out at the camp ground behind the church @ 3:00PM. Bring your tent and camping gear. Also bring a dish to pass for dinner and an easy breakfast item to share with everyone in the morning. Scouts can bring their bikes and helmets if they want to. No electronics.

On December 18, 2008 Cub Scout Pack 20 presented Redeemer Lutheran Church boxes of food. Pack 20 did a great job on their food drive. The Cub Scout Parents did a great job helping their boys go door to door asking people to help a great need in the community.

On November 30, 2008 Cub Scout Leaders from Pack 20 presented Redeemer Lutheran Church a 25 year commemorative plaque for being a proud sponsor of the BSA Pack 20. From all of us at Pack 20, thank you again Redeemer Lutheran Church for being there for the boys.

The 17th of December will be the Registered Leaders and spouses Christmas Gathering which will be held at the Hofbrau beginning at 6pm.

The Pack Meeting will be on December 18th due to the holidays.

Derby Cars races are coming… Get your motors running…

4th Annual Pack 2009 Winter Wonder Land Jamboree
Packs in the STC Bay Trails District are once again welcome to join us on Saturday January 31st from 11am to 3pm at the Silver Lake Park in Traverse City. (Snow or NO Snow)

RULES:
Cardboard / Duck Tape sleds are for Tiger, Wolf, and Bear Scouts, and are to be made of cardboard, tape, glue, and paint only (no medal, wood, or plastic). Entries will be judged as a Pack on creativity. Cub Scouts, start brainstorming of cooooool sleds. Don’t forget your helmet.

There are 3 Boy Scouts who are being trained to become Den Chiefs. The Pack is going to start using Den Chiefs to help teach the cubs cool songs and the Cub Scout ways.

Cubbies… At the December pack meeting, you’ll be decorating cookies. YUMMMY! Also cubbies… Santa is stopping by. YAAAAA! And he is going to be checking his Cub Scout list. OH OH OH!

Tigers will begin the pack meeting with a flag ceremony. Also Tiger’s will be leading the pack in the Pledge of Allegiance and Cub Scout Promise. Tiger Den Leaders, the boys can practice at den meetings.

The display cabinets are up!! They are sweet looking. Everyone please thank Kevin for getting them for the Pack. The display cases will be used for the Den's to display den pictures, den projects, and other funny things for the Cub Scouts.

This week via snail mail you will be receiving a letter from the Scenic Trails Council, to help with financial challenges this year. Please read your letter for more detials.

Welcome to the website of Cub Scout Pack 20 in Interlochen, Michigan. Pack 20 member of the Scenic Trails Council of the Boy Scouts of America. We are chartered by Redeemer Lutheran Church of Interlochen, Michigan.

The goal of our site is to provide up-to-date information about what's going on with our pack and provide online resources to help keep us running smoothly. We also hope to provide information that will be useful to individual den's, scouts and parents looking to enhance their scouting experience. Stay tuned and visit often.

Fun things we do throughout the year as part of Pack 20 include Summer Family Campout, Raingutter Regatta, Christmas Party, Blue & Gold Banquet, and of course a Pinewood Derby.

The Pack consists of five dens. There are one or two dens for each age (i.e., first through fifth grade) group in the Pack. Each den engages in activities to earn the Cub Scout rank (Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos) designed for their age and abilities. All the activities in Scouting are designed to be fun for the boys, while at the same time teaching character, citizenship, personal fitness, and leadership skills.
Pack members who "cross over" into Boy Scouts often join Boy Scout Troop 20, which is also sponsored by Redeemer Lutheran Church of Interlochen, Michigan.

Pack 20 is about twenty-six years old. Our blog will be used to keep scouts and adult leaders informed about Pack events and activities. Finally, we are just starting our site and have lots of things we'd like to add. If you have comments you'd like to share please feel free to contact us. We're always looking for new ideas to improve our site.
